Surgery is over...Dog gone it!

He came through like a champ. We are so proud of the Lukemeister. The surgeons both said he calmly went to sleep with the anesthesia and that he responded well to the surgeries. His poor little pee pee though. It looks so stitched together. They assured us that he'd look normal down there once everything heals. He's is unbelievably good spirits. I haven't even had to give him his pain med. yet. He didn't even get mad when I changed his diaper and applied vaseline to the wound (maybe it's still numb). Children's Hospital was very accommodating. It was a smoothe experience all the way around. Thanks so much to everyone who prayed and checked on us. We think that he's going to recover quite nicely. We can already tell he's hearing better from the tube's procedure. He is saying words more clearly when he looks at his Sesame Street book. He's already eaten jello and drank some apple juice. Thank you Jesus for protecting our little one during his procedures and also for directing the Dr's. hands. We are thankful that it's all over. Oh...funny little side note. When I got to see him in recovery he was still out of it with his head hung low, eyes closed. But he had enough energy to hold his popsicle that they gave him. Only he wouldn't hold it by the stick end. He insisted on holding the cold part. It was so funny. The popsicle melted in his hand, but it didn't seem to phase him. The hospital also gave him a cute little basset hound stuffed puppy. He's been clutching that this afternoon. It's early to bed for us all. This getting up at 4am. is for the birds. Although, I did take a 3 hr. nap this afternoon. We just took Luke for a walk in the red wagon. He kept saying, "outside"....He did good. Just chilled out while daddy pulled and mommy made funny faces at him.

P.S. I almost forgot. Here was my funny dream from last night. We slept through the alarm clock this morning and missed Luke's surgeries. When we arrived at the hospital they apologized that they couldn't do the surgery since we missed our appt. BUT.... they gave us a couple "consolation" prizes. A paid for college education AND $50 in tokens at Dave and Busters to spend as we pleased on games...Crazy the things we dream huh!

I am so glad Luke is doing great. I am sure that with all the lovin's from Mom and Dad he probably doesn't even remember the surgery. Speedy recovery!

My little Lukey is definitely a champ in his Auntie's eyes. I'm so glad that it is over!! Paid for college education???? That was defintely a dream. Maybe it means he will be getting one of those when he graduates high school and God was trying to let you know early? I don't know just a thought....

He's a real trooper. I could tell on the phone that he was talking clearer. Wish I could be there to see him and give him a huge Poppa hug. Glad your dream wasn't true, but they should throw in a college education with what they probably charged for the two surgeries.
Love you all -- Gary 'Poppa' Rice
